Commendations from others are typically based on making comparisons. When we commend ourselves, we measure ourselves against our own standards. When God commends us, he does not compare us to anyone else. When God approves and commends who we are and what we are doing, it’s because we are hidden in Christ, obedient to the Lord, and faithful in all that he has called us to.
