God comforts us directly by encouraging us, coming alongside and assisting us, and giving us of himself. God comforts us indirectly through our brothers and sisters in Christ. God’s comfort is vitally necessary for our spiritual and mental well-being. God’s comfort is balanced with godly sorrow that leads to repentance.
