Paul’s declaration of the preeminence of Christ is prefaced by our understanding that Jesus had to be fully God, to have the fullness of God dwell in him, and fully man, to shed his blood by dying on a cross, to reconcile us to God. Jesus can reconcile all things to God because he is above all things.
