Luke 20:27-47

The Sadducees didn’t believe in the resurrection. The Pharisees did. When Jesus corrected the doctrine of the Sadducees the Pharisees commended him. But Jesus rebuked the Pharisees that even though they had gotten some things right they had gotten many things wrong. In fact, their biggest mistake was that they had missed the truth about the Son of David, the Messiah, that was right before them. We have a similar tendency like the Pharisees to become proud and self-righteous about the doctrines we get right. So much so that we think that we have all our doctrines right. Instead, we have to be willing to listen, to be corrected, to seek truth according to the scriptures, and to apply that truth consistently in our lives.
