1 Peter 1:1-2

In the opening phrase of his first epistle to the persecuted believers in Asia Minor, Peter identifies himself as an apostle, a messenger, of Jesus Christ, one who was directly chosen and commissioned by Christ to communicate God’s word to the body of Christ, the Church. He goes on to remind the believers that despite their circumstances, grace and peace are theirs in abundance because they have been chosen by God.
