Romans 12:3-8

A spiritual gift is a special attribute given by the Holy Spirit, to the members of the body of Christ, according to God's grace, to be used within the context of the body, for the benefit of those inside and outside the body. As Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, we do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility we value others above ourselves, not looking to our own interests but each of us to the interests of the others. We must be other-centered rather than self-centered. It is only then that we can rightly minister the spiritual gifts that God gives us.
