Luke 20:1-19

Luke 20 opens with the teachers of the law and the leaders questioning Jesus about his authority. It wasn’t because they were interested in following Jesus. They were trying to get rid of him because he was a threat to their own authority. Jesus spoke a parable that made it very clear to the leaders that Jesus knew their hearts. He knew that they had rejected him. But Jesus quoted Psalm 118:22 to say that the stone that they had rejected had become the chief cornerstone. Jesus then went on to say, “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.” We need to understand and act on the difference between being broken or being crushed by the same stone.
