Luke describes his gospel record of Jesus’ ministry as an orderly account of what Jesus began to do and teach. The book of Acts then is Luke’s account of Jesus' continuing ministry. Although the book is titled the “Acts of the Apostles,” it can be more accurately described as the “Acts of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1 concludes the gospel account with the ascension of Jesus and sets up the dramatic events of Acts 2: the transformation of the 120 believers gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem and the establishment of the believing community, the body of Christ, the Church.
